Vice-chair of Board

Fri 25th May 12

Trustee – Vice Chair of the Board

Banbury CAB is seeking a Trustee to make an active contribution to discharging the Board’s duties and act as Vice Chair of the Board.

The Bureau provides CAB services in the north of Cherwell District as well as in South Northants. From April 2012, it will be responsible for these services throughout the District, and also for the provision of voluntary transport and general volunteering services. In expanding the scope of our operations, we shall be working closely with Bicester CAB and other partner organisations to harness their skills and extend our own capability. The CAB network in general, and Banbury CAB in particular, is positioned to take on an even greater role in delivering advice and information services to the communities that it serves.

We are looking for a person with skills and experience in business, general management or strategic planning to actively contribute to setting policy and strategic direction, supporting the development of the Bureau, and monitoring the service. You could have developed these skills in the private sector, or in social enterprise / voluntary organisations.

It is desirable for the Vice Chair to have knowledge of the type of work undertaken by the Bureau and a willingness to keep ahead of the changes to the organisation that will take place.  This role is seen as being the most important appointment to the Trustee Board for the foreseeable future.  The Vice Chair will take an active role in sharing work with the Chair and will need to develop and demonstrate their own contribution to the future leadership of the organisation.  It is the Board’s intention that, subject to satisfactory performance, the successful candidate will take over from the current Chair within the next 18 months.

Trusteeship can fit around other commitments, but time expectation will be up to one day a week and six meetings a year which are held in the evenings (approx. 2 hours).  The time commitment will increase to one day per week, possibly more on occasion, if the candidate becomes Chair in due course.

Application

Job Description and Application Form are in the ‘Documents & Downloads’ section of the Banbury main page of this website; alternatively contact the Bureau.
