Casework / specialist services:
The bureau offers casework in money advice at CLS general help plus casework level. The Bureau may also offer a casework service in other subjects.
The Bureau also provides access to solicitors and specialists, accountants and surveyors. These appointments are only available to clients who have been seen by a CAB adviser first.
Solicitors – usually two solicitors every Wednesday night, seeing a maximum of three clients each for 30 minutes each
Accountants – usually one accountant every other Wednesday night, seeing a maximum of three clients each for 30 minutes each (alternating with the surveyor)
Chartered surveyors - usually one chartered surveyor every other Wednesday night, seeing a maximum of three clients each for 30 minutes each (alternating with the accountant)
We are an independent registered charity and have to work hard to secure funding. Often funds do not go far enough or are only for the short term. Friends of Oxford CAB
Friends of Oxford CAB make a crucial contribution to our work. The support and generous donations of our current Friends helps us to train and support the 80 volunteers who give their time and expertise to maintain our services.

Gateway Assessors are a client’s first point of contact, after the receptionist. They carry out the initial diagnosis of a client’s enquiry, identifying the ‘next steps’.
A very varied role. As an adviser you will Interview clients at drop-in sessions and appointments in the bureau, advise clients over the phone and at outreach sessions and other tasks
The first point of contact for clients who call Adviceline, these Assessors carry out an initial diagnosis, and identify the next steps.
The purpose of the role is to greet clients as they enter the bureau and make them feel welcome and to manage the reception area
Campaigners, or Social Policy Co-ordinators, use information from problems brought to the bureau by clients to help bring about real change by influencing local and national policy.
Each member of the Trustee Board has a responsibility to contribute to the discharging of the board’s duties. Trustees, both individually and collectively, are responsible in law for the board’s decisions. The trustee board will: •Safeguard and promote the values and mission of the organisation •Determine the strategy and structure of the organisation •Ensure the organisation operates in an effective, responsible and accountable manner •Ensure the effective functioning of the board of trustees.
